Laughter Is The Language Of The Soul

Laughter is the language of the soul

When you smile you show me your deepest thoughts, you let me see you, you let me explore each of your secrets and I feel close to you. Sometimes  you infect me with joy, just by outlining a small curvature on your lips, a laugh, because your eyes are already smiling at me before your mouth does.

Through each of your smiles you show me the world as you see it, you teach me that there is a way of seeing life with an open soul and willing to learn. If you do not smile I will fight with everything in my power to make your lips fly to the sky.

Why do we lose our sense of humor?

A child laughs about 400 times throughout the day and an adult about 15. This may be because we lose our innocence or sense of humor, but the reality is that on many occasions we need to regain the ease of laughing like children , to have fun and learn to see life in a much simpler and fun way.

One of the causes of our lack of humor on certain occasions is the rigidity with which we behave, our lack of naturalness, our fear of breaking the rules, not respecting the rules. But who has written the rules? What happens if we don’t respect them? Nothing is going to happen, just that we will be ourselves.

Serious and responsible woman

All you have to do is get on the bus first thing in the morning and see people’s faces to realize that no one is smiling, that everyone has lost their good humor. But you have stopped to think what happens if you smile a little more? You do not lose anything, your problems will still be there, but if you sketch a smile you will surely see them differently.

Learn to laugh at yourself again

When we are children, we do not have shame or think about our defects or virtues, we are simply happy and we smile at life. Therefore, laughter is also a matter of self-esteem. If we love ourselves, we will be able to accept our flaws and our virtues and put aside the importance we give to what others think.

But not only if you have adequate self-esteem you will be able to laugh at yourself, but also if you laugh at yourself, you will strengthen your self-esteem. So it is something that works both ways.

Another way to learn again to laugh at ourselves is to learn to overcome our shyness, our shame at the opinion of others, since that sensitivity to negative criticism is what paralyzes us and does not allow us to enjoy our laughter. Learn to be spontaneous, say whatever comes to your mind, use jokes, smile, don’t be afraid, nothing will happen and you will have fun.

Laughter as therapy

Laughter therapy is no longer just a way to fight stress or have a good time, to become a method with medical and psychological applications. The bottom line is that when a laugh is forced, it will make us feel equally good and in the end a natural laugh will emerge.

Women laughing out loud

The psychologist José Elías , a pioneer in laughter therapy in Spain, showed that laughter strengthens the heart, since when we laugh we move 420 muscles in our body, including the heart muscle. What’s more. Laughter lowers blood pressure by increasing the caliber of blood vessels and promoting respiration by maximizing ventilation.

Therefore, laughter improves our quality of life and our health and has positive physical and psychological effects. Learning to laugh helps us to see life from another point of view, much more pleasant and healthier. So, smile, because that’s the language of your soul, the way you can get out there and fly.
